Competitor Comments 2008

It was really good having scrutineering and signing on in Newton Stewart.
Stages were really good and held up well, the best stages of the championship this year.
Thought that the high street start was good and the service area was well spaced and laid out.
Prize giving was again a great venue.

Very friendly signing on staff!!!!
Truly superb stages and can't believe how well the second usage sections stood up to the task.
Really enjoyed it and despite our demise 4 miles from the end it is my favourite rally ever! Praise indeed.
Loved the compact route. Why can't all rallies be like this!

Scrutineering and signing on very quick, excellent

A cracking event, as good as last year, stages were in great condition, even 2nd usage at the back of the field.
Glentrool was so slippy but the 2 short stages were great and so smooth.
Went off the boil a bit during the long 2nd service but could understand why it had to be arranged that way.
A real achievement to only have half the road mileage of most other SRC events and closing the main street was worth the effort.

The best stages this year

Both Alasdair and I agree we can see why this event won best of 2007.
The stages were by far the best we've encountered this year.
The thought of over 14 miles to end the day was daunting but Glentrool was just terrific.
Great stages combined with such low road miles and relaxed servicing, all in all, a fantastic days sport.

Nothing! all went very smoothly. In fact Roland said of signing on "If Calsberg did rallies then signing on would be like this"

Road book and final instructions were excellent.
Scrutineering was the best we have seen all year, kept well clear of the main road and very slick!
All the stages were brilliant and held up very well to the weather of late. Lots of grip all day and Glentrool was excellent on the second pass only the few big rocks pulled out by the bigger cars but they were expected. Again we had no problems with punctures in the infamous Glentrool so those who did were very unlucky or taking big cuts!
Well done to Allan and his team, hope they win the best event for the second year running.

brill stages pity car broke

Very good. Nobody likes double usage but on this occasion the stages held up very well and were in top condition.
Excellent event. Like the compact nature with low road miles. Great not to have the extra few miles to sign on.

SS1: Good stage, but spoilt by chicanes!
SS2: Good stage, Glentrool is fantastic!
SS3: landed in a big hole and did some mega damage to the front strut! Surface was good, but big rocks being pulled out.
SS4: Really Nice short stage!
SS5: Again a really nice short stage.
SS6: Was looking forward to this stage, and it started well, until we got a puncture and understeered off the road!
I always really enjoy this rally, and think its the best in the SRC. A big well done to the organisers! Another cracking event!

Thank you for putting on such an excellent event at the weekend, good organisation, great service area and superb stages.
You and your team deserve high praise for the way the entire event was ran.

I want to thank you and all the organisers, marshals etc for running a fantastic rally. It was our first time on these stages and we thought they were superb.
It probably helped being the first car through but even the second time through Glentrool on SS6 they’d held up well.
